| The Photographer’s Edge: Cameras, Lighting and Capture One! | | | Paul Ives offers us a very unique and honest look at the transition to digital. Photography today is as much about taking the image as it is about finishing the image during the shoot. The economic impact of using Capture One as a tool while shooting, both as a creative tool with the client and to create better photography, is extreme. This interview was done by our editor Walter Borchenko who also wrote the book Capture One Applied Craftsmanship. It was interesting to find out that Walter was unaware that Paul had purchased Capture One Applied Craftsmanship and was using the techniques in his work. I think this makes the message from Paul even more powerful. To read the article click here.

We count on software to keep us efficient and profitable. Some of the most important software developments have taken photographers out of the darkroom. These software giants, in the conversion to digital photography have been very important yet these same solutions are starting to hold us back in ways we never imagined. A poor software decision for a photographer can lead to lots of extra work, less profit and lower quality!
A key difficulty is that these software giants try and be everything to everyone. Phase One is a small company in comparison – but with a huge idea! The only thing we concentrate on is RAW processing with Capture One and the finest RAW capture devices with the Phase One P+ series backs. We strive to understand what photography is all about and supply tools that support our ideal! The reward for Phase One is that more and more photographers are starting to cut post production by 50%, 80% or even 90%, in some cases, by using Capture One! This is a reward that is well worth pursuing!
With the release of Capture One 4.0 public Beta, Phase One moves forward with a new platform that focuses on RAW processing in a way that gets the job out with as little post production as possible and as fast as possible with a major increase in quality. Although we are proud to support the DSLR community with Capture One and even more proud to be producing the Phase One backs that offer the next level in user experience, we are most proud to help photographers focus on Capture above all else!
