Though I shoot a variety of styles, most of my clients are in the entertainment industry. One day you might find me shooting in a studio or a custom-built set. The next day I’ll be on location in a barn or even a graveyard. What is the one common thread running through all my work? That is serious pre-production. It’s a question of creating a magic moment, rather than waiting around for one to happen.

My favorite assignments are the ones where I feel like a circus ringmaster. The single biggest priority becomes insuring that everybody involved is having a good time. That fun tends to really come through in the final product. This is especially true when shooting celebrities.
Of course, an approach like this is only possible when you are 100% certain that your gear – all of it – is completely reliable.
My typical shoot has me behind a Phase One P 30 mounted to one of several different Hasselblad V System bodies. I almost always shoot tethered to an Alienware Area 51M laptop. Occasionally I will pull the cord and shoot to a card, but only if I need to run around to achieve a more photojournalistic look.
I always find a 100 meg, RGB 8 bit scan to be just right. Not too big, not too small – just right in the pocket. So 96 meg P 30 files are an ideal balance of image quality and drive space.
I should also mention that I use Capture One every day on every job, without fail. My favorite thing about Capture One is how intuitive it is to adjust and manage color. No other software has ever proven so effortless and dependable for the work I do. It’s simply the best tool for the job!
