| | | | | | | +Fashion Photography: Pushing the limits! | | |
Fashion photography seems like a status symbol. Yet little tests photographer, team and equipment more. As the articles make clear, Fashion photography is not easy. Our contributors this month: Peter Svenson, James Russell and Christian Ammann each have their own unique approach to the business. As with so many who are successful today, none of these photographers spend much time in their home cities and are truly citizens of the world!
The articles this month are some of the most ambitious we have ever provided. These photographers share techniques, lighting methods and some of the deepest thoughts they have about our industry and what it takes to succeed. Please let us know how you like the content by sending feedback to editor@phaseone.com.
The fashion world has been and continues to be a fantastic proving ground for Phase One products and engineering! Thanks for all the feedback and please keep it coming!

| | | | | + The #1 Campaign – A thank you to James Russell | | |
In late 2007, Phase One started a photographic project visualizing the ''One'' from Phase One. This project is a peek into the creative mind of the photographer and the elements he or she uses to make the world's best photography. It is about the photographers’ creative interpretation of being #1. James Russell took the challenge, and coming directly from shooting Ronaldinho in a large production in Barcelona, James drove for 8 hours in a cargo van from Barcelona, Spain to Paris with his crew. They arrived just in time to start two 18 hour days of casting, construction and wardrobe. Nobody said being a photographer is an easy job! Everything seemed to happen at the speed of light. The wardrobe, the make-up, the hair, the lights, the shadows, the shoes, you name it. It was like a busy ant’s nest where everyone knew their own place. James Russell was directing the crew like a conductor – smooth and elegant, always on the move, busy and in control. Surrounded by a hard-working team that seemed to work together like a well-oiled machine. Impressive! The result is impressive too. The fierceness of the shot itself and of course the clear and accurate colors, the fine texture, the sharpness. It all just happened! Thank you James for doing this for Phase One. Thanks to Ann, Jocelyn, Didier Bizos and to the rest of the crew for making this happen!
