HOW DO I REGISTER?
Please contact the dealer who is hosting the training seminar you would like to attend in order to register.
WHO IS THE COURSE DESIGNED FOR?
The course is designed for Digital Technicians. This means we cover Capture One as well as Phase One cameras and backs with a focus on how best to work in a high production commercial photoshoot. If you are not a digital tech, assistant, or commercial photographer please understand that this course might not fit your expectations. If you do not have prior experience with Capture One Pro this course will likely be too advanced for you.
WHAT IS THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS?
There are two steps:
- 1. Qualification. Take the online prerequisite course and pass all sections.
- 2. Live training. Attend an official Phase One Certification Training course and pass the written exam at the end.
Registration for both can be handled by the dealer hosting the event.
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE ONLINE PREREQUISITE AND ACCESS THE COURSES?
After you register with the dealer hosting the event you will recieve confirmation and login info from Phase One via email. If you lose the link follow it here: http://goo.gl/AOzY3
WHY IS QUALIFICATION NECCESSARY?
Because space is limited and there is a lot of material to cover, it is important that students already have a strong understanding of Capture One and Phase One backs. The online course not only helps to ensure that students are prepared for live training; it also allows us to cover more at the event.
WHAT IF I DO NOT FINISH THE PREREQUISITE COURSE PRIOR TO THE EVENT?
Please make every effort to do this. If we believe you are not ready for training then we will ask you to wait for a future event. Information taught at live training is directly related to information covered in the Pre Course.
WHY GET CERTIFIED?
Many technical industries already have a comprehensive certification process that ensures employers that prospective employees have the necessary skills. For instance the IT industry has MCSE and Cisco certifications. One of the great problems in the freelance digital tech industry is that aside from word of mouth, there is no way to know how knowledgeable tech is until you work with them. Our goal is to create an official certification that is verifiable and ensures a certain level of quality.
There have been several certification programs in the past from manufacturers, however the Phase One Certification program is the first to offer such a high level of training.
WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT DURING THE TRAINING SEMINAR?
The training program is a hands-on course with Phase One backs in both classroom as well as a live shooting environment. It will cover proper setup, workflow and troubleshooting techniques for cameras, Phase One backs, and computers. Capture One 7 is covered in depth to provide an understanding of efficient workflow practices and advanced tool use.
The course is approximately 50% Software and 50% Hardware.
HOW LONG IS THE TRAINING SEMINAR?
Typically training is 2 days, 9am - 4:30pm. Lunch will be provided.
DO I NEED OR REQUIRE A SPECIFIC SKILL LEVEL PRIOR TO ATTENDING?
Yes, it is important that you already have reasonably good understanding of how to use Capture One. You should also have a fairly advanced understanding of studio photography including strobe based lighting. If you have never used Capture One or only have basic knowlege of Capture One, this is not the course for you.
WHAT TYPE AND SIZE COMPUTER WILL BE NEEDED?
We recommend bringing a MacBook Pro. We will have some computers available on site. Please see our standard minimum specifications for Capture One :
- Intel-based Mac
- 4 GB of RAM (8GB+ recommended)
- 10 GB of free hard disk space
- Mac OS X 10.7 or later
DO YOU LIMIT THE SIZE OF THE TRAINING SEMINAR?
Yes, each training event is limited to no more than 15 students. This allows for a manageble class size as well as plenty of hands on opportunities.
WHAT LANGUAGE IS THE PROGRAM TAUGHT IN?
All instruction is in English unless otherwise noted.
WHO WILL TEACH THE TRAINING SEMINAR?
Instructors include knowlegable representatives from Phase One technical support. All instructors are experts in technology and workflow.
WHAT DOES IT COST TO GET CERTIFIED?
Contact the participating dealer. This includes the prerequisite program, as well as registration for the training seminar. Included in the seminar cost is a Capture One Pro license, all course materials and lunch during training.
