PODAS Photography Workshops

PODAS Fashion & Portrait, Weston Park, UK

September 10-14, 2011

The Ultimate Model Shoot!
Join two of the world's leading fashion and portrait photographers, Drew Gardner and Miss Aniela, and the Phase One PODAS team for an intense workshop in Weston Park, UK.

A Unique Fashion & Portrait Photography Workshop

Here is an amazing chance to stay/work in one gorgeous location, the elegant Weston Park, for a very special fashion and portrait photography workshop. Like all PODAS workshops, this one offers world-class instructors and an all-inclusive venue; but this is the first workshop to focus on shooting models on location, creating elegant atmospheres in both time and place. From airport pick-up, to single-room accommodations, gourmet meals, the newest camera equipment from Phase One and inspiring subjects, this PODAS workshop is designed to free participants so that they can focus solely on taking their photography to the next level.

Participants will use a Phase One DF camera system with a 60 megapixel IQ160 back during the workshop. Instructors Drew Gardner and Natalie Dybisz (Miss Aniela) are teaming up to offer a hands-on comprehensive photography workshop, to include shooting, post processing, as well as real-world information on the fashion/portrait business. This is an intensive workshop, with two days of photography and a day of classroom work.

Photographs will be shot both indoors and outdoors at various locations on this large country estate. There will be between four and six models and stylists, including world-famous Jay Jessop. We will provide full classic period costume and wardrobes, which will give us an opportunity to create classic period-piece images.

Instructors Drew and Natalie each have a unique style; together they will demonstrate how they scope out a shooting session and make their images work from conception right through the final image. Attendees will be able to shoot with them, side by side, and create their own images using similar techniques. These exercises, learning new approaches for lighting and posing, are designed to inspire participants and develop a new direction in creating their own unique portrait styles.

The group of 16 participants will be divided into two groups to ensure small “class” size and so that each group will have time to spend with each photographer, one-on-one.

Here's the tentative agenda:

Saturday, September 10th
We begin our event at 3:30 PM. At this time we will do the introductions, hand out cameras and provide you instruction on how to use them, and orient you to the agenda for the next few days. Within a few hours you’ll be out shooting your images. We will have dinner, followed by an introduction to Capture One and how to import the images you have just shot. Even though sleep is optional at a PODAS workshop, as we are here to take pictures, we suggest some rest because there are long days to come.

Sunday, September 11th
We will start off with breakfast and between 9 AM and noon we will be working in two groups, one with Natalie and one with Drew. Models will be provided with stylists for make up and hair. After lunch the teams swap instructors. After dinner that night, Natalie will speak about her career, inspiration, images and more.

Monday, September 12th
We will start off with breakfast and between 9 AM and noon we will be working in two groups, one with Natalie and one with Drew. After lunch the teams swap instructors. After dinner that night, Drew will speak about his career, inspiration, images and more.
