Immortalizing Wedding Ceremonies
Jeff Ascough on Wedding Photography Workflow
Named one of the world’s top ten wedding photographers by American Photo magazine, UK-based Jeff Ascough is a master of visual narrative. His images are timeless in their power to illuminate and record the joy and the profound mystery that comprises the wedding day. Crafted with indelible precision, the images bear witness to the timelessness of the event -- the generations gathered to witness the ceremony and celebrate the wedding.

Digital Asset Management
While all photographers have a method for organizing their work, only a few years ago, the term “digital asset management” would draw a blank when we’d ask many of them about it. It did not surprise us to learn that until about a year ago, Ascough said he did not feel he needed any advanced digital asset management (DAM) software. However, as his hard drives inevitably started to fill up, he told us that he realized he was going to need help managing his expanding volume of digital image files.
Like many of MediaPro’s customers, he originally heard about the application through his friends who were also photographers. Initially, he looked to MediaPro simply to catalog his files. But today it has become much more than that. Ascough says, “It is an essential piece of software for my workflow.”
Working with Capture One
”I’ve shot my last four weddings RAW and processed the images in Capture One – it’s really that good.”
He explained that from a technical viewpoint, the “biggest problem I’ve had with digital technology has been with obtaining the correct skin tones.” He said, “It’s been really difficult to get good skin tones, especially in the UK with our pasty complexions. Most RAW converters make a mess of it.” With Capture One PRO he cites the “beautiful skin tones and inbuilt noise reduction that, ‘surprised me’.”
