イメージセンサーはどんなデザインになっているか？
デジタルイメージセンサーはカメラで見るイメージを記録する感光性の電子装置です。それらは通常は微細なサイズ”ピクセル”と称し比較され、デジタルカメラのセンサーにおけるピクセルの説明に通常用いられています。通常それぞれのピクセルはイメージ中の明るい部分（暗い部分の中の明るみ）にみられるだけです。カラーインフォメーションを記録する際、各ピクセルのカラーフィルター上部に赤、緑、ブルーの表示があります。
Why shoot images in raw format?
Digital cameras often have the ability to shoot images as a raw file, as well as the more commonly used JPEG setting. A raw file contains very little processed ‘data’ from the camera’s sensor. Therefore they are not yet ready to be printed or viewed on screen.
A simple analogy would be the film negative. The negative is not directly useable as an image but has all the information needed to create an image. This is why we often hear the terminology to ‘develop’ or ‘process’ a raw file much like we do with a film negative.
By reading the individual Red, Green and Blue values of the pixels, mathematical algorithms are used to create the full colour image. This is known as interpolation and it can either be done in-camera, like deriving the jpeg from the raw file, or it can be done in imaging software like Capture One 7.

Catalog organization
With Capture one Express 7, you easily organize your images in the default Catalog. The Catalog will aid you in the selection and filtering of images to locate the ones you need, quickly and easily.
The Catalog contains all the information needed for Capture One Express 7 to find and display your images. That information includes how the images are organized, metadata and even what visual adjustments have been made to the images. You can choose if you want to store your images within the Catalog or anywhere else on your computer, network drive or external hard drives.
With the images files places inside the Catalog, you can easily share it between different computers. With the images placed outside the Catalog, you get a smaller catalog size and you can disconnect the network drive or external hard drive where the images are places and still work with your images in Capture One Express 7 while they are offline.
Virtual organization
Organize your images in a flexible structure using Albums, Projects and Groups effortlessly by dragging and dropping. Put an image into several albums without creating copies or using more hard disk space to create your specific selections and collections. Organize your shoots into projects and use groups to create collections of projects in a nice way.
Shared Catalog
With a Catalog shared on a network drive, several people can now work with it at the same time increasing productivity in teams. Choose between the two set-ups: either one person can both view and write, or several persons can view at the same time.
Offline browsing
If your images are no longer online with the Catalog, they can still be browsed and some image adjustments made. Keep your cataloged files on external hard drives or network drives but work with them while the drives are offline. Adjust the size of the image previews to fit your needs when working offline.
Import session
If you have upgraded to Capture One Express 7 from previous generations of Capture One Pro you need to integrate your old Sessions in your new Catalog. Each Session can be imported as a Project in your Capture One Express 7 Catalog.
If you are upgrading from an older version of Capture One Express, your default Session will be migrated automatically to a Catalog when you install Capture One Express 7.
Rating and tagging
It is quick and easy to rate and color tag images to help assist your selection and editing process. Ratings can be applied instantly (on screen or via keyboard shortcuts) from 1 to 5 stars. Color tags can add another dimension and can be used together with a Rating, or as an alternative on its own. You can also tag or rate by selecting one or more thumbnails and dragging them on to the desired star rating or color tag.

Noise reduction
Capture One Express 7 comes with a highly improved noise reduction. By default color noise and luminance noise will be reduced from any image no matter what ISO it has been shot at. Removing noise is always a compromise between removing noise and retaining as much valuable information in the image as possible and you have full control of how to set this compromise to fit your preferred taste.
The noise reduction has been especially improved for higher ISO images. Each supported camera is tested extensively by Phase One’s experts to ensure the optimal noise reduction. Shoot with higher ISO more confidently before, knowing that Capture One Express 7 will give an even better result compared to Capture One Express 6.
Lens correction
In Capture One Express 7, your images are automatically adjusted for lens failings, such as distortion and chromatic aberration using tailor-made profiles for popular DSLR and medium format lenses. Fix classic optical issues like distortion, light falloff, chromatic aberration and purple fringing quickly and easily.
Capture One Express 7 comes with a wide selection of default lens profiles that can be chosen to automatically correct any unwanted optical issues. The new auto adjustment gives greater accuracy and improved image quality.
Levels and curves
Levels and curves allow you complete control of your highlights, midtones and shadows. Use levels to brighten your highlights, adjust your midtones or darken your shadows to create a full tonal range in your images. Use curves to remap the image tonality, control brightness and contrast in the highlights, midtones and shadows.
Vignetting
Vignetting is perfect for those times when you deliberately wish to lighten or darken the edges of an image in order to put more attention the main motive. The vignette slider makes it easy to apply a vignette relative to any cropped image area.
Black & white conversion
With Capture One Express 7 you can now convert your images to black-and-white with powerful sliders that let you precisely adjust the color channels when you convert to grayscale.
No need to use expensive plugins or other applications, you get stunning black & white images with Capture One Express 7.
Color Editor
Apply subtle color adjustments to a chosen color spectrum with complete control of hue, saturation and lightness. An inbuilt Smart Saturation works intuitively behind the scenes to ensure that image tones appears natural and that transitions are smooth.
Clarity
The Clarity tool can improve hazy images by adjusting local contrast. The tool now allows negative clarity values, which helps smooth out local contrast in portrait images.
The new improved Clarity tool gives users a choice of controls: 'Punch', 'Neutral' or ‘Classic’. In principle, using a positive value with the Neutral clarity slider preserves color, increases contrast and reduces haze. A positive value from the Punch clarity slider increases contrast reduces haze and boosts color saturation, which gives an image more ‘Punch’.
Global auto adjustments
Global auto adjustments corrects for the following aspects: Exposure, Saturation, Contrast, White Balance, High Dynamic Range, Levels and Rotation.
Global auto adjustments can be applied by pressing the large A icon found in the toolbar. Click and hold the A icon to reveal a drop down menu and checkmark the options that you want to automatically adjust. (These options can also be accessed and selected in the Adjustments > Auto Adjustments menu item).
Sharpening
Capture One Express 7 offers a range of sharpening presets, formulated to provide a good starting point to sharpening images for numerous purposes. By default, the sharpening settings have been configured to produce a pleasing onscreen image and will provide an excellent basis for your own further sharpening adjustments.
High dynamic range
With the new and improved HDR tool, you can bring out even more detail in the shadows and highlights than with Capture One 6. It provides superior contrast in the detail of shadows when recovered. This tool helps you to perfect high-contrast scenes by recovering blown out highlights and opening up dark shadows, in images taken under challenging light conditions.
Batch apply adjustments
The Adjustments Clipboard can copy settings from one image and apply them to a selected group of images or only to apply a subset of the changes. The local copy and apply function makes it easy to copy and apply individual image tool adjustments to other images to save time. This function is completely integrated into the Adjustments Clipboard for a seamless experience.
Styles and presets
Apply creative styles and presets to your images and experience an easy way to be consistently creative with your images. Styles can be used to apply a set of unique colors or monotone or even imitate the effects and look of classical chemical film and processing methods. A preset or saved style will give you a reliable and predictable effect that can be applied to future images. Styles can be further adjusted after they have been applied and they can be combined and stacked.
White Balance
Capture One Express 7 makes it simple to achieve your desired white balance setting. An image can be quickly corrected with a built-in auto white balance feature. Alternatively, use the white balance picker to select a neutral area of an image (or a grey or dark white area if possible) that will be used as a reference point to map all other colors.
Composition
The tools in the Composition tab enable users to control the layout of a photo. You can crop, rotate, flip an image horizontally or vertically.
Variants
Variants permit you to create virtual copies of your original image without taking up more than a few kilobytes of hard-drive space. Experiment with different settings or modify the work you have done on an image without risk.
