This PODAS is designed to as inspiring as it is adventurous, while remaining relaxed and informal. This workshop emphasizes the proper use of the XF Camera System and the techniques to ensure consistent success... with a bit of room to enjoy a drink under the vast blue desert sky. Workshop Schedule

We will begin our workshop in Salt Lake City the afternoon of the 19th. Please arrive no later than 5pm. That evening we will have and introductory meeting so that you can meet the crew, grab a camera and get oriented for the trip.  We will head to a welcome dinner then have time to prep for our drive to Moab the next morning.

Each day we will have at least one educational lesson both on location or in the classroom at our hotel. These will include lessons in Capture One Pro software, the XF Camera system, proper photographic technique, advanced tool use and of course several inspirational presentations by Tim Wolcott and Steve Friedman. We will also have time to edit images, practice editing techniques and perhaps evaluate some images captured during the workshop.

Moab will be our base to explore Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. We’ll hit some of the iconic sights like Delicate Arch, Mesa Arch and Dead Horse Point as well as other photogenic locations throughout the parks. We will take advantage of morning and afternoon light for shooting and have some down time during the day to work on editing and allow for exploration of Moab.

From Moab, we’ll head over to Bryce Canyon. Bryce often gets lost in the shuffle with the other big National Parks nearby, but it is absolutely gorgeous and the landscape of the park offers different scenery than its neighbors. Bryce features huge amphitheaters of hoodoos and many trails that allow you to wind through them or get above them and take in the larger scene. We’ll have the day of arrival and a second full day to explore the park and get great locations for sunrise and sunset.
After Bryce we’ll make our way down to Page Arizona. Page sits next to Lake Powell and features iconic photography sites like Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon. We’ll visit several locations, including a few slot canyons.

Leaving Page, we’ll make the short drive over to Monument Valley. Here we will take tours into the valley and explore the buttes, spires and mesas. Local guides will be on hand to provide insight into Navajo traditions and culture, complementing our photo stops. Monument Valley was a favored location of “The Duke”, and served as the backdrop to several of his movies.

From Monument Valley we drive down to Sedona to end the first half of our Southwest tour, and beginning of the second half. For those of you leaving us at this point, flights can be booked out of Flagstaff or Phoenix on the night of the 27th or morning of the 28th October. There is a shuttle service to the airports and the trip is around 2 hours to PHX. Should you require accommodations for the evening of the 27th, let us know we would be happy to assist.
