Meet Dr. Mohsen Miri, Director of Strategic Partnerships 

At the intersection of curiosity, precision, and innovation, you’ll find Dr. Mohsen Miri. As director of strategic partnerships at Phase One, Mohsen is dedicated to building meaningful collaborations that move the geospatial industry forward. His career is driven by a desire to understand the fundamentals of measurement and to turn that understanding into impactful solutions.

A foundation built on the beauty of precision 

Mohsen’s path began with three deceptively simple questions: what, why, and how do we measure objects? These questions have guided him throughout his journey in GIS, surveying, imagery, photogrammetry, and machine learning, fields that collectively shape today’s most advanced geospatial workflows. “Geometry and algebra were always my favorite subjects,” Mohsen recalls. “Solving math problems felt as exciting as playing football. Working with distances and angles across dimensions helped me appreciate the beauty and precision of nature.”  This appreciation still drives his work today. For more than 30 years, Phase One has built imaging systems that merge creativity with scientific accuracy, a harmony that resonates deeply with Mohsen. “Phase One cameras strike a unique balance between art and industry. That alignment is what fuels my passion here.” 

Shaping the role of imaging in the AI era 

When discussing the rise of AI, Mohsen makes one thing clear: precision input is the foundation of trustworthy intelligent systems. “Phase One cameras are more than photographic tools; they’re precision measurement instruments,” he explains. Throughout his career, he generated digital twins ranging from sub-millimeter replicas of ancient coins to city-scale 3D models with centimeter-level accuracy. These replicas open the door to automation, insight, and analysis, but only when the data underpinning them is both high quality and reliable. “During my PhD, I explored how machine learning could extract valuable information from these models. We’re now in a revolutionary era, and AI depends entirely on the quality of the data it receives. This is where Phase One plays a pivotal role.” 

From industrial inspection and large-scale mapping to earth observation, Mohsen works closely with strategic partners to ensure that industries can create the precision-driven digital twins that modern AI workflows rely on. “In today’s innovation speed and rapidly growing technologies, successful solution providers can scale up their business if they work in a co-evolving ecosystem with healthy partnerships and sustainable business models”, he believes.

Finding balance through art, movement, and exploration 

Beyond his professional work, Mohsen keeps his creativity and energy flowing through a blend of artistic and athletic pursuits. He enjoys improvising on the violin, playing drums, and sketching, activities that bring him into a world of harmony and imagination. His sporty side is just as active. Football, badminton, ping pong, and swimming keep him energized, and he recently added skiing to the mix. “I was told it’s both fun and challenging, the perfect combination,” he laughs. Traveling, exploring nature, and experiencing new cultures are also essential to his well-being. They bring him inspiration, perspective, and a renewed sense of curiosity, qualities that echo through both his personal and professional life.
