Phase One introduces Next-Generation Aerial Systems
A modular, best-in-class imaging platform combining advanced camera technology, optimized processing workflows, mission planning and flight management, alternative IMU options, climatized system housing, and Hybrid Motion Compensation (HMC) for high-speed aerial capture.
COPENHAGEN, Denmark 15.09.2026 — Phase One today announced the release of its Next-Generation Aerial Systems, a new modular architecture designed to bring together leading camera, navigation, planning, flight management, housing, and processing technologies into one integrated user experience.
The new generation is built on Phase One’s latest high-resolution camera and processing workflow components, while further opening the system architecture to selected best-of-breed technologies. This brings together best-in-class technologies in a highly integrated aerial imaging solution without compromising image quality, operational efficiency, or usability.
At the center of the release is a broader modular ecosystem that combines Phase One imaging technology with advanced mission planning and flight management software, alternative IMU technology, climatized system housing, and Hybrid Motion Compensation (HMC) features developed to support sharper image capture in demanding high-speed operating conditions. The underlying system architecture supports iXM-FS130 and iXM-RS250 based three-band and four-band solutions and is designed to support additional camera configurations as the platform evolves.
While the Next-Generation Aerial Systems remain a Phase One offering, defined and delivered under the Phase One portfolio, the platform is strengthened by a carefully selected ecosystem of technology partners. Phase One continues to work with leading partners for critical system components, including Applanix for IMU technologies and Somag for stabilized mounts.
Through a strategic co-development partnership with IGI, the platform combines advanced imaging, navigation, mission management, and workflow capabilities into a highly integrated aerial mapping solution optimized for performance and usability.
For customers who require continuity, compatibility, or upgrade paths from existing system configurations, Phase One’s existing system components remain part of the current portfolio, including the Phase One iX Suite software portfolio, comprising iX Plan, iX Flight Pro, and iX Process, ensuring continued support for existing workflows and investments.
Key innovations
- Modular best-in-class architecture: The new systems bring together leading imaging, navigation, flight management, and processing technologies into a cohesive aerial imaging platform, maintaining a seamless end-to-end workflow.
- Advanced Phase One camera and processing workflow components: The systems build on Phase One’s latest imaging and processing technologies to support high-quality capture, efficient data handling, and reliable production workflows.
- Mission planning and flight management software: Optimized functionality supports demanding applications such as corridor mapping, terrain-aware mission planning, and efficient single-pilot operations.
- Expanded IMU options: The systems introduce additional navigation and positioning options alongside established IMU configurations, giving customers greater flexibility in system design.
- Climatized system housing: A newly designed housing concept supports reliable operation across challenging environmental conditions and helps protect system performance during demanding aerial missions.
- Hybrid Motion Compensation (HMC): designed to reduce motion blur during high-speed capture, helping operators achieve sharper imagery and more consistent results.
These innovations together represent a fundamental step forward in how Phase One approaches aerial system design — and a platform this significant deserves a name to match.
A new generation. A new name.
The Viking ships that sailed from Nordic shores were built for one purpose: to go further, perform in the harshest conditions, and return with the mission complete. PAS TRANA carries that same spirit.
A new generation of aerial systems deserves a new kind of name — one that reflects not just what the system does, but the ambition and heritage behind it. Named after the crane ship of the Viking fleet — elegant, focused and perfectly proportioned for its mission — PAS TRANA marks the beginning of a new naming direction for Phase One aerial systems. Available in both three-band and four-band configurations, PAS TRANA gives operators the spectral flexibility to match the system to their mission requirements.
Available configurations
The Next-Generation Aerial Systems are available in multiple configurations built on the iXM-FS130 and iXM-RS250 camera platforms:
- PAS TRANA 250 – 3-band configuration based on the iXM-RS250.
- PAS TRANA 250 Pro – 4-band configuration based on the iXM-RS250, including near infrared (NIR).
- PAS TRANA 130 – 3-band configuration based on the iXM-FS130.
- PAS TRANA 130 Pro – 4-band configuration based on the XM-FS130, including near infrared (NIR).
All configurations are built on the same Next-Generation Aerial Systems architecture, providing a common platform across the portfolio and enabling future expansion with additional camera configurations.
Designed for aerial operators who need more flexibility
Aerial mapping, inspection, and geospatial production are becoming increasingly complex, with operators expected to capture more detail, fly more efficiently, reduce re-flight risk, and deliver data faster. Phase One’s Next-Generation Aerial Systems address this challenge by combining high-end imaging, optimized mission control, robust positioning options, and improved workflow efficiency in a modular platform that can evolve with customer requirements.
“Our customers are being asked to do more with every flight,” said Arne Dehn, CEO of Phase One. “They need higher productivity, greater flexibility, and confidence that their systems can adapt to changing mission requirements. With our Next-Generation Aerial Systems, we have created a modular and highly integrated platform built on the belief that customers benefit from the best technologies working together. By combining Phase One’s imaging expertise with carefully selected technologies and strong industry partnerships, we are delivering a new generation of aerial systems that offers exceptional performance, seamless workflows, and the reliability customers expect from Phase One.”
Availability
The first PAS TRANA systems will be ready for sale from October 1, with the 4-band configurations following by November 1. PAS TRANA will be available through Phase One’s global network of authorized partners, ensuring customers have access to local expertise, system configuration, integration, training and support. Additional technical specifications, configuration options, and application-specific system details will be shared directly with customers and partners.
