PAS 880 earns AdV certification, showcasing remarkable performance

The PAS 880 aerial camera system has achieved a significant milestone by earning the AdV suitability certification (“Eignungsprüfung einer Luftbildkamera für Befliegungsprojekte der deutschen Landesvermessung“). Recognized as one of the most stringent evaluations in the industry, this certification underscores the system’s exceptional capabilities in delivering precise and reliable results for aerial imaging.

What is AdV?

AdV (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Vermessungsverwaltungen der Länder der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) is the working group of state and federal surveying authorities in Germany.

AdV is responsible for setting the standards for geospatial imaging and mapping across the country, and their rigorous certification processes ensure that only the most reliable technologies are used for projects of national importance.

What does passing the AdV test really mean?

The AdV suitability test is designed to demonstrate that an aerial camera system meets the requirements for mapping projects. The data must meet strict quality criteria to produce standardized products like digital elevation models (DEM), true orthophotos, stereoscopic measurements or 3D mesh models.

This test was also a groundbreaking evaluation of the market leading Bayer pattern technology – a revolutionary image sensor for high quality and more efficiency in imagery. Apart from Phase One’s PAS 880, several manufacturers of Camera Systems participated in the evaluation.

We are proud to say that the PAS 880 proved that Bayer pattern technology can deliver in some cases, even better results than traditional systems.

Bayer Pattern Technology: A proven alternative

Bayer pattern technology, used in the PAS 880, simplifies the imaging process and excels in capturing accurate radiometric data, which is essential for high-quality color and detail, ensuring exceptional results.

With this certification, the PAS 880 has proven itself to be a reliable solution for even the most demanding projects, and while AdV’s certification primarily impacts Germany, its influence extends across Europe and the global photogrammetry community, setting a new benchmark for what Bayer pattern technology can achieve. Whether you are mapping landscapes or capturing the finest details of urban environments, the PAS 880 is ready to deliver exceptional results.

A win for innovation

At Phase One, we’ve always believed in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in geospatial imaging. Designed to meet the growing demands of wide-area mapping and 3D modeling, the PAS 880 is now on AdV’s list of recommended camera systems.

We would like to thank AdV for their comprehensive evaluation and recognition, and to our incredible team, as well as our partners for their dedication. We are proud to be part of collective achievements that drive innovation forward and shape the future of aerial imaging.
